The Emirates Group has appointed a UAE National to a strategic HR position in North America. Wasan Al Husseiny became Manager of Human Resources for the US and Canada markets earlier this month, overseeing the group’s HR operations in the region.

Wasan started her career with Emirates in 2006 as a trainee in Human Resources, providing business support for the Emirates’ engineering department. Since then, she served in a number of operational and non-operational roles within Emirates.

After working as an HR specialist for 5 years, Wasan was promoted to HR Manager, responsible for the Far East and West Asia region. In 2014 she became Manager of HR International, managing a global team with an expansive portfolio covering Africa, Middle East, Far East, West Asia and the Indian Ocean.

Wasan commented: “My career with Emirates has been a rewarding journey, providing me with a depth of experience. I look forward to applying the knowledge I’ve gained and I look forward to working with our team in North America to continue to build the group’s reputation across the region.”

Congratulating Wasan on her new appointment, Amira Al Awadhi, Emirates’ Vice President National Development and Recruitment said: “We wish Wasan all the best in her new position as Emirates’ Manager HR in the US and Canada. She is a great example of how effective our National Development strategy is in preparing Emiratis for career growth at Emirates Group.”

The Emirates Group’s National Development strategy, Rehlaty, places UAE Nationals in a variety of positions to support the growth of Emirates airline and dnata. The strategy is set to recruit and retain UAE Nationals through a range of career opportunities and scholarships within the group.
