The Taiwan Tourism Bureau is determined to develop cruise tour and travel promotions for international passengers as Asia continues to position itself as a major region for cruise tourism.Taiwan is surrounded by sea which boasts rich marine resources. There are six main ports, including Keelung, Hualien, Taichung, Tainan, Kaohsiung and Penghu, all surrounded with natural landscape, historical culture and convenient transportation which directly highlight the island’s unique geographical location and local characteristics.Being a shining MICE destination among Asia, Taiwan is ready to step in the cruise market, targeting the international incentive travel and meeting groups. Taiwan Tourism Bureau is therefore launching special subsidies including administrative support, tour planning assistance, cultural performances and souvenirs for incoming MICE groups.Financial grants for overseas cruise ships will be based on the total duration of stay in Taiwan for each ship-call, ranging from US$7,500 to US$15,000 depending on the berth in Taiwan. In addition, for the first-time incentive group over 150 pax and above, the Bureau will provide a welcome gala dinner as a token and special welcome bonus.“We hope our promotion will encourage travellers from the East and West to take a cruise trip to Taiwan and experience the extraordinary surprises here.” said the Deputy Director General Liu.
