Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) has collaborated with Samsung Electronics and SK Telecom under the ‘Enjoy Mobile Korea for Free’ promotion which runs from 15 March until 31 December 2016.The promotion provides up to 250 international visitors per week to Korea with a free smartphone rental experience with free voice calls, SMS messages and free data (1GB per day) for up to five days.The service includes free rental of a Galaxy Note 5, data (1GB per day), free local voice calls, SMS messages for five days including day of pick-up (international calls excluded) and a pre-installed VisitKorea app to plan their travels in Korea.Selected participants may collect and return the rental phone at the SK Telecom Roaming Centre located at Level 1 of Incheon International Airport between gates 10-11 during the hours of 6am and 10pm. Documents required for rental include passport, online reservation number once selected and credit card.Applications are via the ‘Enjoy Mobile Korea for Free’ promotion website with 250 winners to be selected each week.Also, visitors to Korea can also experience the new app, ‘Palace in My Hand’, which allows tourists to easily enjoy the royal palaces of Seoul . The application allows visitors to learn more about the four main royal palaces in Seoul – Gyeongbokgung, Changdeokgung, Changgyeonggung, Deoksugung – and the Jongmyo Shrine.Visitors can not only make use of the general guide and information on the buildings and their history, but users can also learn about events and programmes that will be happening at the cultural heritage sites. Using free Wi-Fi provided at the entrance to the sites or at public spaces throughout the city, tourists can download the mobile app at no charge while in Korea or download in advance of their trip from the iTunes App Store or Google Play Store.
