On 25 May, LATTE, selected media and industry agents were invited to the Beautiful Samoa Roadshow 2016 at the Sheraton on the Park, Sydney.Key speaker and CEO of Samoa Tourism Authority, Sonja Hunter, greeted those gathered with a cheery “Talofa” before outlining Samoa’s aim to promote itself as ‘The Happy Destination’ while also priding itself on sustainable tourism and protecting the natural environment.Since major tourism industries were first introduced to Samoa in 1998, soil samples have been taken each year to check the ecosystem is not being adversely affected by tourism.This year Samoan Tourism introduced the Year of Excellence Survey to gain feedback on how they can improve tourists’ holiday experiences in Samoa.The Roadshow showcased 11 of Samoa’s most popular resorts, including the Sheraton Samoa, the new Taumeasina Island Resort, Return to Paradise, Aga Reef Resort, La Vasa Resort, Saletoga Sands Resort and Spa, Savaii Lagoon Resort, Seabreeze Resort, Sinalei Reef Resort & Spa, Le Lagota Resort and Tanoa Tusitala Hotel.Also represented at the Roadshow were the three airline partners for Samoa: Virgin Samoa, Fiji Airways and Air New Zealand.Gathered media and industry were entertained throughout the night by the traditional moves of a company of Samoan dancers.
