latte-back Singapore Airlines has confirmed that customers travelling from Canberra to either Wellington or Singapore on the new ‘Capital Express’ will have access to the Virgin Australia Lounge.Business class passengers, PPS Club and KrisFlyer Elite Gold members, as well as Virgin Australia Velocity Platinum and Gold Members, will be able to access the Virgin Australia Lounge prior to their flight.Singapore Airlines Regional Vice President, Mr Tan Tiow Kor said confirmation of Lounge access for premium passengers was one of the last outstanding items to be finalised ahead of the inaugural flight on Wednesday.“We have been working closely with our alliance partner Virgin Australia to ensure our premium passengers had the option of accessing the Virgin Australia Lounge prior to their departure,” Mr Tan said.“As the Virgin Australia Lounge is not located in the international section of the terminal, we will liaise with Virgin Australia to ensure our premium passengers have ample time to clear customs and immigration before boarding their flight.“With SQ292 to Singapore scheduled to depart Canberra several hours after the last domestic flight from Canberra, the opening hours of the Virgin Australia Lounge will be extended until the departure of SQ292.”The 1082-square-metre Virgin Australia lounge offers sweeping views across the tarmac, luxurious design elements and an all-day dining and barista service. The lounge seats up to 300 guests and has been designed to provide separate areas to work, rest and unwind.Guests travelling between Singapore and Wellington will not be able to access the Virgin Australia Lounge while transiting in Canberra.The inaugural ‘Capital Express’ service is scheduled to arrive at Canberra Airport on Wednesday 21 September at 8.35am with a range of activities planned to mark the historic occasion. latte-back
