Aman announces fourth destination in China

Opening this autumn is Aman’s fourth destination in China, Amanyangyun, boasting 26 meticulously restored antique villas.

It is the story of a daring rescue attempt: when thousands of ancient camphor trees were threatened with flooding by reservoir construction in the Jiangxi province, the entrepreneur and philanthropist, Ma Dadong, began a decade-long campaign to relocate each one to south-west Shanghai, 700km away. Today, those trees now flourish in and around Amanyangyun.

Six dining venues offer guests a variety of cuisines, moods and settings, including private dining options, a 200-seat Banquet Hall and an Aman Deli Village Shop providing specialty foods and wines. And of course, the gastronomic diversity of downtown Shanghai is just a short ride away. At the Aman Spa, expert therapists enrich body and mind in 10 treatment rooms, and guests can spend time in the hydrotherapy suite, hammam or Russian banya.

Carefully restored and fitted with every modern comfort, the antique villas are seamlessly woven among 24 contemporary club suites designed by Kerry Hill Architects, the visionary team behind Japan’s Aman Tokyo and Amanemu. Aman’s refined aesthetic extends to the Suites and Villas which each have their own courtyards.
