With a ‘taste of Europe’ themed evening hosted at Bar Machiavelli in Rushcutters Bay, Sydney, Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection celebrated its official Australian launch of U by Uniworld – the revolutionary new brand offering luxury river cruising for a new generation.A black carpet to represent the sleek black ships was rolled out as 130 guests were welcomed with a Night Owl lavender-based cocktail and joined Managing Director, Fiona Dalton in anticipation for the exclusive event. Uniworld’s Global CEO, Ellen Bettridge, also made an appearance in a special video to welcome Australian travellers on board The A and The B.The launch also coincides with U by Uniworld’s special preview cruise in 6 weeks, where Petra Nemcova, philanthropist, founder of Happy Heart Fund and Victoria’s Secret Angel will act as The B’s Guardian Angel. To date, U by Uniworld has recently supported by donating $US50k to rebuilding a school in Nepal.
“What makes U by Uniworld so exciting is that we are the first cruise line in the world, and certainly the first in river cruising, to design and offer cruises specifically for the 21–45-year-old age group. Some have called it revolutionary, others a game-changer, but whichever way you look at it, what we’re doing is new, innovative and offers a completely new take on experiential travel.” stated Fiona Dalton, Managing Director.
A mix of trade partners, travel agents, lifestyle media and Australia’s best content creators plus media personalities such as Jordan and Zac Stenmark, Tim Robards, Melissa Hoyer, Lincoln Younes and Matt Doran, enjoyed the festivities and atmosphere as they were transported to Europe with a luxurious French dessert-filled bar to represent The Seine Experience itinerary; an extravagant cheese table inspired by the Netherlands and Rolling on the Rhine; and Germany’s Finest with a pretzel station. The finishing touch was with a live illustrator personalising travel quotes for the party as guests enjoyed tunes by DJ Alice Quiddington.Guests also had the opportunity to win a trip with U by Uniworld (for those aged 21 to 45) or a six-litre (Methuselah) bottle of G.H. Mumm champagne, courtesy of Atout France.U by Uniworld is set to sail in 14 April 2018, appealing to a new generation with its dedicated ships (featuring a rooftop lounge, Chef’s Table cooking class, silent disco, morning yoga sessions and mixology classes) and shore U Time Excursions to dive into the destinations, including rock climbing in Swiss Franconia, a vintner’s dinner in Austria and cheese-tasting in the Netherlands.LATTE spoke with Ellen Bettridge about the new brand and Uniworld’s latest ship, SS Joie de Vivre, earlier this year.
