A&K’s Private Jet visits Hobart

 Last week, the Abercrombie & Kent Private Jet arrived in Hobart for a three-day sojourn as part of its Around the World with Geoffrey Kent tour. Accompanied by A&K Founder, Mr Geoffrey Kent, 50 travellers were treated to a selection of experiences in the Apple Isle, the only Australian stop on the trip.Highlights of this trip included helicopter tours to private wineries, Bruny Island wilderness cruises and private tours of local attractions including Australian Convict Sites that are World Heritage listed. Guests visited the Shene Estate, enjoyed a Gala event at the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) and experienced a night-time tour of the Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary.Chartered helicopters and private aircrafts made this one of the largest charter operations that Tasmania has ever seen. Touring options included charter flights over Wineglass Bay and a day spent on a fifth-generation, family-owned sheep station with a wandering showcase of local Tasmanian produce.Abercrombie & Kent has been operating private jet trips for more than 20 years. The journeys operate on a customised Boeing 757, converted from its normal passenger capacity to a maximum of 50 guests, with fully lie-flat seats and cabin crew on board for the entire journey.

“It’s a trend which is definitely growing”, says Sujata Raman, Regional Managing Director of A&K Australia/Asia Pacific. “Travellers today are time challenged. They want to experience new and out-of-the- way places without the hassle of airport bureaucracy. Travelling by private jet allows access to remote destinations that larger airlines don’t service on a timetable dictated by the itinerary – not an airline’s convenience – and a first class experience getting there.”

The next journey will occur in February 2018, inspired by The New York Times. Tailored around today’s headlines, the Private Jet will travel to destinations that range from Cuba and Colombia to Iceland and Israel as well as Samoa and Sydney, accompanied by some of The New York Times’ journalists and contributors, who share their first-hand perspectives. Prices start from US$135,000 per person.
