Crystal has released exterior renderings of Crystal Cruises’ new “Diamond Class” ships to whet the appetite of forward planning cruisers. Aside from two artist impressions, very little was disclosed at this stage, other than indicating that the luxury ships will measure approximately 67,000 gross tons and accommodate approximately 800 passengers. The weight of the ship is a nudge larger than first flagged.The Diamond Class ships will also boast “luxury design elements and exceptional amenities in-line with Crystal Cruises’ award-winning Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity and new-build river ships and expedition yachts,” the company said.The first ship in the Diamond Class series will join the fleet in 2022.“Our ocean ships are the heart of the Crystal brand and have been loved by our guests for more than 28 years,” says Crystal president and CEO, Tom Wolber.“We are delighted to expand this celebrated fleet with amenities and spaces that our guests have come to love along with more choices and new experiences that will take luxury to the next level. We look forward to sharing more details next year with our guests and travel partners.”Earlier this year, Wolber suggested the Diamond Class vessels would be within the 60,000–65,000 GRT range, at the time also stating they would not feature residences.The Diamond Class ships will be built at MV WERFTEN shipyard in Stralsund, Germany.
