Lufthansa Group has announced new flights from Frankfurt, Munich and Zurich to the capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana, following the demise of Adria Airways last week.From its hub in Frankfurt, Lufthansa will operate twice daily connections to Ljubljana starting 27 October. The Lufthansa hub in Munich will follow by offering daily connections beginning on 1 November.SWISS will introduce five weekly services from Zurich to Ljubljana starting on 16 October. From October 27 onwards, the airline will extend its offering to a daily connection.Austrian Airlines will also offer its passengers up to three daily connections from Vienna to Klagenfurt as an alternative to the termination of Adria Airways’ flight operations to Ljubljana.
Separately, Brussels Airlines will begin six new weekly services to Ljubljana from 4 November. Its flight schedule allows for connections with the rest of the Brussels Airlines’ network via Brussels Airport. The Star Alliance global airline group, of which Adria Airways was a member for 15 years, said the collapse of the Slovenian carrier followed the company’s recent bankruptcy developments. Adria Airways ceased all flights on 30 September.Ljubljana Airport said new capacity is also being introduced to Slovenia by Air France, LOT Polish Airlines, Air Serbia, Aeroflot, Montenegro Airlines, Turkish Airlines and other carriers.
