United Airlines reinstates LA-Sydney operation

United Airlines will resume operation between Los Angeles and Sydney in September after a prolonged coronavirus pause in service. The US airline has maintained an ongoing presence between Australia and the US throughout 2020 on the San Francisco-Sydney route.United will also launch new nonstop thrice-weekly services between Chicago and Tel Aviv, and reinstate its Chicago-Hong Kong operation in September.“Throughout 2020, United has been the only carrier to maintain continuous daily service between the US and Australia as well as the US and Israel,” said Patrick Quayle, United’s VP of International Network and Alliances. “As we continue rebuilding our international network, we look forward to offering customers more opportunities to travel between the US and Hong Kong, Sydney and Tel Aviv.”The Los Angeles-Sydney resumption will see UA operate three weekly Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner flights from LAX departing on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday at 10.55pm, arriving into SYD at 6.55am. The return flight will push back at 9.30am and touch down in Los Angeles at 6.05am the next day.UA’s Chicago-Hong Kong service will initially operate once per week using Boeing 777-300ERs.
