Accor and hospitality group sbe have unveiled plans to convert a five-star London hotel, The Curtain, into a Mondrian hotel in collaboration with current owner Reuben Brothers. The property, to be re-badged as Mondrian Shoreditch London, will mark the return of the brand to London after a two year hiatus following a management agreement termination of the Mondrian London at Sea Containers in late 2018 and early 2019.The 120-room property sits in the heart of Shoreditch, London’s creative and cultural hub. sbe will establish several of its signature food and beverage brands at Mondrian Shoreditch London, including a culinary experience by world-famous chef Dani García. This will be the first time Chef García will open a culinary experience with sbe in London. When it opens in 2021, Mondrian Shoreditch London will be Mondrian’s sixth hotel globally and its European flagship. The Curtain Members’ Club will continue to operate alongside the re-branded hotel.“The city has been and will continue to be such a thriving market for our lifestyle hospitality offerings, and I am very excited to reestablish Mondrian as one of London’s most innovative and glamorous destinations for hospitality, culinary and mixology experiences for locals and travellers alike,” said sbe Chief Operating Officer Chadi Farhat.
The opening advances sbe and Accor’s previously announced strategy to open 10 new Mondrian properties by 2022 and follows the company’s recent launch of Mondrian Seoul Itaewon, and announcement to open Mondrian Bordeaux and Mondrian Cannes in 2021.In August, the parties also revealed the brand’s intended launch in Australia, however were tight lipped on the whereabouts of the hotel.Lead image supplied.
