On Wednesday SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium hosted a lunch for the Sydney Visitor Collective including leaders from the attraction, accommodation and leisure industry.Also in attendance was the Minister for Jobs, Investment, Tourism and Western Sydney Stuart Ayres, MP, GM of Engagement & Visitor Economy Development at DNSW, Stephen Mahoney and Managing Director of ATEC Peter Shelley.The group came together for a positive discussion with Minister for Jobs, Investment, Tourism and Western Sydney Stuart Ayres about various innovative measures to overcome the industry’s challenges by working collaboratively on their aligned vision of fast tracking Sydney’s tourism industry.Innovative measures discussed were focused on driving visitation back into the city, keeping hotels afloat via renumeration initiatives, the extension or top up of the Dine and Discover vouchers, a possible tourism attraction package as well as retaining Sydney’s title as the Gateway to Australia.Rob Smith, Divisional Director APAC, Merlin Entertainments said: “Creating forums for discussion, collaboration and positive idea sharing is so important for our industry, which has been struggling for some time now. We have already achieved so much, and if we keep working together I have no doubt that our cooperative efforts will pay off and we can get our businesses, and our wonderful harbour city, back on track”.
