Scenic adds five new European cruise, land itineraries

Click the cover to view the eBrochureScenic has introduced five new cruise and land combination itineraries as part of the line-up for its full release 2022 European River Cruises Collection.While the core river cruise program remains mostly unchanged, there are three new itineraries that encompass the once-a-decade Passion Play – Oberammergau, in Germany.Also new are two Land Journey/River Cruise combinations; one that incorporates a rail adventure through Switzerland, piggybacked by a Rhine and Moselle sailing, and the other an Italian epicurean experience tagged onto a voyage through Southern France.

Oberammergau 2022

The Australian-owned company has three packages encompassing the once a decade Passion Play, including:

• 22-day Jewels of Europe with Alpine Highlights & Oberammergau, from Amsterdam to Zurich, commencing on 4 May, 1 June, 13 July, 10 and 24 August 2022. Prices start at $16,490 per person twin share.
• 21-day Jewels of Europe with Bohemian Sojourn & Oberammergau, from Amsterdam to Munich, commencing on 11 and 25 July, 11 August and 5 September 2022. Prices start at $15,240 per person twin share.
• 11-day Gems of the Danube with Bavaria & Oberammergau, from Budapest to Munich, commencing 3 and 23 June, 7 and 21 July, 4 August, 15 and 30 September 2022. Prices start at $7,720 per person twin share.

Scenic had previously flagged the Oberammergau inclusion in its 2022 Europe Preview guide that was released earlier this year.

Swiss Rail; Italian Epicurean

Scenic has paired a 12-day rail itinerary across Switzerland with its 15-day Basel to Amsterdam river cruise.Operating roundtrip from Zurich on either 11 June or 11 August 2o22, the rail portion of the 26-day Romantic Rhine & Moselle with Majestic Switzerland by Rail includes the Gotthard Panorama Express to Lugano, the Bernina Express to St. Moritz (from Tirano), the Glacier Express to Zermatt, and onto Lausanne, Montreux, Interlaken and Bern. The full rail and cruise package is priced from $20,995 per person twin share.For the foodie, the 21-day Tastes of Southern France with Italy’s Epicurean Heart itinerary may whet the appetite with a gastronomic 10-night journey across the country renowned for its delectable cuisine. This new trip includes a split three-night stay in Rome, followed by stays in Siena, Bologna, Perugia and Sorrento (most of which are two-night stops), and there’s a Scenic Enrich home-hosted dinner with a local family in Sorrento. Scenic has six departures available on this cruise/land combination in May, June and September, with prices starting at $16,885 per person twin share.

Scenic Enrich additions, Enrichment Manager

The 2022 program contains a mix of new Scenic Enrich Experiences, including after-hours access to Bordeaux’s Les Bassins de Lumières, to canapés and a guided tour of Motorworld in Cologne.

Also new is an onboard Enrichment Manager for all Europe river cruises, responsible for hosting cabaret nights, cooking lessons, wine tastings, informative lectures and more.To support travel advisors and encourage their clients to book with confidence, a range of practical policies have been provided. New bookings receive Scenic’s Complimentary Deposit Protection Plan and Flexible Booking Policy, where clients can defer or cancel up to 60-days prior to departure*.
