American Cruise Lines’ 5th vessel in its new riverboat class – American Symphony – was launched earlier this month in the US.Constructed at Chesapeake Shipbuilding in Salisbury, Maryland, the 175-passenger ship will enter service on the Mississippi River in August 2022.American Symphony will begin its inaugural season with an 8-Day Lower Mississippi River itinerary between New Orleans and Memphis, then transition to Upper Mississippi River sailings between St. Louis and St. Paul.

The riverboat features the same sophisticated elegant design and state-of-the-art features showcased aboard 2021 sister ship American Melody; including the series’ hallmark opening bow and retractable gangway. The five-deck, all-balcony stateroom vessek features a four-story glass atrium, indoor and outdoor dining venues, fitness centres, spacious lounges, and a spectacular top deck showcasing a Skywalk.Immediately after the launch, the new riverboat was positioned in Chesapeake’s East Outfitting Basin where it will receive its upper decks and outfitting.American Cruise Lines offers over 10 different itineraries on the country’s most iconic river, ranging from 5- to 22-days in length. In 2022, American Symphony joins the company’s growing Mississippi fleet, which already includes American Melody, American Jazz, American Heritage and American Splendor.Meanwhile, the first cruise of the Chesapeake Bay season in the US launched this week aboard American Cruise Lines’ American Constitution riverboat.
