Luxury expedition cruise specialist, Mark Spillane, has returned to the industry, revealing this week that he has joined Seabourn as its US-based Director – Expedition Sales.Spillane has extensive cruise credentials in the high-end space having worked with Silversea Cruises for more than two years and most recently at Crystal Cruises for five. His most recent position with Crystal was as Director, Sales & Marketing – Yachting & Expedition Cruises, before the luxury cruise line’s shock shutdown earlier this year.Spillane was a key stakeholder in the launch last year of Crystal Expedition Cruises’ Crystal Endeavor.

Following a highly successful maiden season aboard Crystal Endeavor in Antarctica over the summer of 2021/22, Spillane exited Crystal after the brand’s demise in February 2022.In a post shared on social media this week (see right), Spillane celebrated his cruise return with Seabourn, saying he “couldn’t be more excited to join this amazing team at such an exciting time! Looking forward to collaborating with the Seabourn team and industry colleagues in this new role”.This week, Seabourn took delivery of its first of two ultra-luxury purpose-built expeditions ships, Seabourn Venture. The 132-suite ship will launch in the coming weeks.
