VIKING SATURN SHIP OF THE MONTH – MAY 2023 WEEK 1 OF 4
Viking has taken delivery of the company’s newest ocean ship, Viking Saturn. The delivery ceremony took place when the ship was presented at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Ancona, Italy. Viking Saturn will be officially named in New York City on 6 June 2023 by her ceremonial godmother, Ann Ziff, the esteemed philanthropist and Chairman of the Metropolitan Opera—a longtime Viking cultural partner. Following the naming ceremony, the ship will spend her inaugural summer sailing two new Viking voyages: Iconic Iceland, Greenland & Canada, between New York City and Reykjavik, and Iceland & Norway’s Arctic Explorer, between Reykjavik and Bergen.
Viking Saturn will join Viking’s award-winning ocean fleet of identical sister ships. Viking’s ocean vessels have a gross tonnage of 47,800 tonnes, with 465 staterooms that host 930 guests; the ships feature all veranda staterooms and abundant al fresco dining options. In true Viking style, they take a different approach to design on their ocean ships – so much so that if it weren’t for the all-encompassing water views, guests wouldn’t know they were on a cruise ship at all. Viking engaged esteemed hotel designers to design and furnish their beautiful interiors, so that from the moment a guest steps on board they will feel the same sense of serenity, warmth and comfort symbolised in the Norwegian concept of hygge. This notion of quiet contentment is in the very air of their light-filled, serene spaces, which together create a true home at sea for their guests.

The Living Room Bar & Atrium

The Living Room’s clinker-built bar, inspired by ancient Viking longships, is perhaps the most charming at sea. Located at the heart of the ship, it is the ideal setting to relax with a drink and catch up with new friends.

Explorers’ Lounge

With two-storey panoramic windows ensuring incredible views are always on display, the Explorers’ Lounge is inspired by epic journeys of discovery. There’s no better place to share a glass of wine with friends and take in the magnificence of the world.

Torshavn

Night owls will flock to our atmospheric, 1940s lounge-inspired bar, Torshavn. Open from 9PM until late, Torshavn hosts a live band every evening and boasts the largest collection of vintage Armagnacs at sea, dating back to 1935. For those wanting to kick up their heels and dance the night away with a cocktail or two, this is the place to be.See vikingcruises.com/
