Luxury barge operator European Waterways will acquire Ireland’s only luxury hotel barge the Shannon Princess with the deal representing a significant expansion of its fleet.The vessel has been sailing European Waterways’ River Shannon itineraries since 2003 under the ownership of Ruairi and Olivia Gibbons, but will now become a fully owned part of the company’s fleet.Shannon Princess will continue to follow its popular itinerary, with growing demand prompting European Waterways to extend its cruising season from 2025 and a series of enhancements on the cards. These will include upgraded interiors and an expanded excursions program.
