Pandaw confirms new Irrawaddy vessel in the works

Pandaw will launch a new 14-cabin K-class ship on the Upper Irrawaddy in Myanmar, with construction on the KANEE PANDAW now underway at the cruise line’s Mandalay shipyard.The announcement follows its recent deployment of three K-class vessels to India, creating the need for an additional ship to sail the Upper Irrawaddy, Chindwin and Delta expeditions into more remote parts of the country.“Despite the political situation in Burma and a decline in mainstream routings, the demand for small ship expeditions in Burma has actually increased,” a statement from Pandaw said.The K-Class ultra-shallow twin-decked ships can venture where others cannot, making them perfect for Pandaw’s style of soft adventure river expeditions. All are named after original Irrawaddy Flotilla vessels.“These much-loved, safari-style vessels offer outdoor or indoor dining, run-round promenades and ample indoor and outdoor living space,” Pandaw said. “The cabins are slightly smaller than on Pandaw’s larger ships but cleverly designed and very comfortable with roomy bathrooms.”It has been designed to carry mountain bikes, with a focus on appealing to a younger demographic and families.
