A&K Sanctuary‘s new Kenyan safari lodge, Kitirua Plains Lodge, is now taking reservations for 1 June 2026 and beyond, as excitement builds around the opening of the “architecturally adventurous” property.Set in a 128‑acre private concession adjacent to the iconic Amboseli National Park, one of the great elephant habitats of East Africa, Kitirua Plans Lodge will offer guests “outstanding” wildlife‑spotting opportunities against the dramatic backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro. With 11 standalone suites and two two-bedroom suites, the lodge also has a wellness area with spa treatment rooms, a gym and a swimming pool complete with views.“The opening of Kitirua Plains Lodge marks not only an exciting new addition to our safari portfolio but also a deepening of our long-standing commitment to the local communities, with new A&K Philanthropy initiatives set to launch alongside the lodge in 2026,” A&K Sanctuary said.
The lodge’s design, which blends local heritage with innovation, is another drawcard. Inspired by Maasai principles, it blends eco‑friendly, locally rooted architecture with contemporary touches. Furniture is handcrafted from Kenyan mango wood, with cypress decking, woven textiles and sculpted metalwork. When it opens, it will take A&K Sanctuary’s Kenyan portfolio to three, joining Olonana Lodge in the Maasai Mara and Tambarare Camp in Ol Pejeta Conservancy. It represents a return to the brand’s “heartland”, according to A&K Sanctuary, with Kenya the location of Geoffrey Kent’s first safaris six decades ago.
