Abercrombie & Kent has further expanded its global network of destination management companies (DMCs) with the acquisition of Copenhagen-based Borealis DMC, tapping into demand for the “authentic wilderness experiences” available in the Nordics.A longstanding partner of A&K, Borealis DMC is known for its expertise across the Nordic wilderness and cultural landscape. Headquartered in Copenhagen, the company operates throughout Denmark, the Faroe Islands, Finland, Greenland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.The partnership will provide A&K with greater access to the region’s most sought-after experiences, from Northern Lights viewing to midnight sun encounters.“The Nordic region provides access to experiences that epitomise adventure and luxury in their purest forms,” Rebecca Osman, Chief Destination Officer at A&K Travel Group (AKTG) said.
“This acquisition aligns perfectly with our commitment to unlocking impossible possibilities for both our discerning travellers and our trade partners.”
Meanwhile, Borealis DMC Founder Marcella Infantino described the acquisition as a “natural evolution” of the companies’ long-standing relationship. “A&K understands what makes the Nordic region special – our relationships with local communities and commitment to authentic wilderness experiences,” she said. “We’re excited to join a global family that’s leading the way in luxury travel.”In addition to world-class service, A&K continues to focus on community impact. Through Abercrombie & Kent Philanthropy (AKP), the company will support local conservation and cultural preservation efforts in the Nordic region. It plans new initiatives across the Nordic region that will support local conservation efforts and cultural preservation programs.The acquisition also reflects A&K’s ongoing global growth. The company has recently opened DMCs in Mexico and Indonesia, with more than 3,000 staff in over 65 offices across 40 countries, It continues to invest in its A&K Sanctuary portfolio, with its collection of luxury camps and riverboats now spanning three continents.
