Marriott International has confirmed its expansion in Fiji, signing an agreement for The Ritz-Carlton Fiji, Namuka Bay. Earmarked to open in five years time, the 249-key new-build luxury resort will be situated in the heart of the Coral Coast occupying a 28-hectare beachfront site.The luxury eco-resort was originally linked to Developer Chiodo Corporation in 2023, who is currently under investigation by the Australian corporate watchdog.The deal with Luxurious Resort (Fiji) Pte Limited marks the brand’s debut in Fiji.“It is exciting to reach agreement to debut The Ritz-Carlton in one of the world’s most desirable destinations,” said Richard Crawford, Vice President of Hotel Development for Australia, New Zealand and Pacific, Marriott International.

Designed to reflect the Fijian culture and heritage, the resort is expected to comprise of 166 guest rooms and suites, most featuring picturesque ocean views. In addition, 83 villas are anticipated to feature a private plunge pool and outdoor deck, whilst the 480 square metre Presidential Villa expects to showcase a 186 square metre private pool, large balcony and yoga lounge. The Ritz-Carlton Fiji, Namuka Bay will offer guests outstanding recreational facilities supporting wellness and well-being, including two large pools; an exercise area; yoga studio, tennis courts; a bespoke children’s recreation centre for the brand’s signature Ritz Kids programming; and The Ritz-Carlton Spa with plans to feature eight treatment rooms, sauna, dip pools and a salon.The resort will join Marriott’s high-performing portfolio of five existing properties in Fiji, including Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay, Sheraton Denarau Villas, Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort, Sheraton Resort & Spa, Tokoriki Island, Fiji and The Westin Denarau Island Resort & Spa, Fiji (slated to reopen in 2025).
