Australia’s tourism industry is set to benefit from a new, flexible training platform aimed at supporting operators and workers across the country.

The Quality Tourism eLearning Hub, developed by the Australian Tourism Industry Council (ATIC) in partnership with eLearning specialists etrainu, has officially launched with the backing of the Albanese Labor Government.

Tourism remains a vital pillar of the Australian economy, supporting more than 706,000 jobs and over 360,000 businesses nationwide. Recognising the sector’s importance, the Government has committed $8 million to enhance the Quality Tourism Framework (QTF), which now includes the newly launched eLearning Hub.

“The Albanese Labor Government is proud to invest in the future workforce of the tourism and travel industry,” said Minister for Trade and Tourism, Don Farrell. “By supporting this eLearning Hub we’re ensuring people across the sector have access to the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in a fast-changing industry.”

The eLearning Hub offers a national library of short, practical courses covering key areas such as sustainability, accessibility, and customer service readiness. These modules are designed to strengthen business capability and improve service standards across the sector.

“The Quality Tourism eLearning Hub will help people to build great careers in the tourism industry, as well as building the skilled workforce that our world-class tourism operators need,” Minister Farrell added. “People are at the heart of our critical tourism sector. With this hub we are investing not just in training, but in innovation, resilience and the long-term growth of the industry.”

ATIC CEO Erin McLeod said the Hub builds on the existing QTF by offering a “practical, industry-led platform to build workforce capability nationwide.”

“By collaborating with eLearning experts etrainu, we’ve created a versatile learning platform designed to serve tourism businesses of all sizes and locations throughout Australia,” she said.

Meanwhile, Paul Hoon, CEO of etrainu, highlighted the platform’s focus on accessibility and relevance: “Together with ATIC, we’ve created a platform that delivers relevant, accessible learning, particularly for the small and regional operators at the heart of Australia’s tourism industry.,” he said.

Available on any device at Quality Tourism Framework – Quality Tourism Australia, the eLearning Hub supports flexible, on-the-go learning through interactive modules, videos, and downloadable resources.
