The opening of a new office at Sydney’s Barangaroo marks an important milestone for Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. (NCLH), with it coinciding with 10 years of operation in the Asia Pacific region.

Last night, representatives from the worlds of cruise and media attended the ribbon cutting, taking a moment to reflect on the local growth of the three brands – Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Oceania Cruises and Norwegian Cruise Line – over the last 10 years. What began in 2015 as a small startup team has grown into a regional powerhouse of nearly 200 employees, reflecting a decade of “remarkable development and collaboration.”

“Celebrating 10 years since we opened our Asia Pacific office is a proud moment for all of us,” said Steve Odell, Senior Vice President International and Consumer Sales, Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises. “It’s been an incredible journey of growth, innovation, and partnership with our valued travel advisors. It’s especially meaningful to now be in our new Sydney home, which reflects not simply how far we’ve come, but where we’re headed.”

Odell, who was the first employee in the region, recalled the early days: “We hosted a Christmas party that year, and there were only 20 people,” he said. “This office is going to hold almost 200 people.”

The Sydney celebration brought together the original leadership team, including Ben Angell, now Vice President and Managing Director Asia Pacific for Norwegian Cruise Line. “It is genuinely hard to believe that it’s 10 years ago that we all met the originals in the Langham Hotel where Lisa Pile was working at the time,” said Angell. “From that beginning, we’ve grown to become a powerhouse.”

The new office houses all three brands all on the same level. “To be able to bring the three brands together on this floor really can allow us to bring the power of the three brands back together again,” said Angell.

Meanwhile, Odell highlighted the consistency of leadership over that period. “The longevity of the management, the consistency of the management, has been a key to our success in this market,” he said.

With plans for continued investment and expansion, the future looks bright. “We are excited to continue evolving our presence,” said Angell, “and the power of our tri-brand strategy ensures we can keep delivering exceptional cruise experiences.”
