Marriott International will bring its Ritz-Carlton brand to Kerala with the announcement of The Ritz-Carlton Vaikom Island, scheduled to open in 2029.The ultra-luxury retreat, in partnership with The Brigade Hotel Ventures Limited, will mark a significant expansion of Marriott’s luxury footprint in Southern India.An all-villa resort, the property will feature 70 exclusive accommodations, each with a private pool. In addition to its bespoke lodging, plans include five distinct dining venues, a swimming pool, a fitness centre and The Ritz-Carlton Spa.Set amidst the tranquil backwaters of Kerala, the resort will be accessible via a scenic 120-minute drive from Kochi Airport or a 40-minute to 60-minute speedboat journey through the tranquil backwaters from Bolgatty Jetty in Kochi.The choice of location aligns with Ritz-Carlton’s commitment to delivering transformative experiences rooted in local culture and natural beauty, according to Rajeev Menon, President, Asia Pacific excluding China, Marriott International.“Our growth strategy focuses on being present where our guests want us to be, as we continue to meet the growing demand for luxury travel experiences and world-class hospitality services,” he said.“Today’s signed agreement underscores our long-standing relationship with the Brigade Group, and leveraging the strength of our diverse brand portfolio, we are confident these new developments will meet the needs of travellers, for every trip purpose.”The Kerala opening is part of a broader agreement between Marriott International and The Brigade Hotel Ventures Limited, which includes six new hotels across India under five Marriott brands, reflecting strong belief in India’s luxury hospitality potential.
