Having recently launched more than 700 exceptional outdoor encounters under the banner of ‘My Swiss Experience’, Switzerland Tourism reports that interest in the various activities on offer remains high. Many travellers and agents alike now have the ability and flexibility to look up experiences and book them directly online in just a few clicks. Some of the more popular themes this summer include nature, urban, adventure, culture and action. Agents assisting their clients with suggestions and bookings can search experiences by themes, seasons, travel group sizes and even by the preferred language.Under the nature theme, exploring the rocky desert and learning about local herbs and brewing skills are quite popular as travellers get to see and experience very different sides to the country, in addition to the alpine setting.Travellers opting for urban tours have been delighted with discovering trendy Zurich West and the design aspects that have influenced and continue to influence the look and feel of many Swiss cities.Meanwhile, paddling in the heights of the Alpine canyons and paragliding have proved popular among adventure- and thrill-seekers, while wildlife watching is fast becoming an essential Swiss summer experience.Travellers in search of some local culture have been enjoying following the footsteps of Hermann Hesse, listening to scary ghost stories, and touring with a night watchman to add a bit of literary experience and mystery to their holiday itinerary. Finally, while spectacular views and farm animals have always been quite popular among walkers and hikers, two programmes that have gained traction this summer include climbing a 4000-metre mountain in the Valais region and trekking with goats.More experiences can be found here.
