Coral Expeditions is embarking on a new Australian adventure with the launch of its fourth expedition ship in early 2019. Media guests at an intimate reception held at Sydney’s Café del Mar on Thursday 2 November were among the first to learn the new ship’s name, her destinations and design from Mark Fifield, Group General Manager.Coral Adventurer will be a 60-cabin expedition ship designed for exploring Indonesia, the Kimberley and Papua New Guinea. She will continue Coral Expeditions’ proud tradition of Australian-flagged vessels with professional Australian crew and a relaxed, informal atmosphere. She will also feature the line’s trademark dual ‘Xplorer’ tenders to carry guests ashore in comfort and with ease. The Navigator lounge invites passengers into the bridge and provides a fascinating, rare vantage point of ship operations. The ship also includes two Bridge Deck Balcony Suites (the Cairns and Darwin suites), with outside-facing bathtubs and a spacious lounge area.Coral Adventurer is the culmination of two years of design and three decades of expedition cruising. Her maiden voyage is an epic journey through the Indonesian archipelago, retracing the voyage of Abel Tasman. The 18-night voyage crosses from Singapore to Darwin, visiting ports throughout the ‘Spice Islands’ where the Dutch explorer dropped anchor in the 17th century. The one-off itinerary is complemented by a 10-night Darwin return journey into the rarely visited destinations of West Papua.Throughout her maiden season, Coral Adventurer will also sail through the Kimberley, Cape York, Arnhem Land, Papua New Guinea, Raja Ampat, Komodo and Krakatoa.
