Two new camps for Tanzania’s Nasikia Camps in 2018

Signature Media was delighted to have dinner with Donna Duggan during her latest visit to Sydney and was inspired by her story of making a difference to communities.Australian-born Donna is the CEO of a portfolio of high-end tented camps in Tanzania, Nasikia Camps, as well as Africa destination management specialist, Maasai Wanderings. Having met her husband-to-be in a town at the foot of Mt Kilimanjaro, she settled in Tanzania, using her skills as a nurse to engage in humanitarian work. This remains a core aspect of Maasai Wanderings, which supports a number of community projects (particularly schools) in the Arusha region.Together with her husband, Naseeb Mfinanga, Donna started Maasai Wanderings, curating eco-conscious safaris across Africa. Today Maasai Wanderings operates tours in Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Namibia and Ethiopia. Signature Photo Safaris are also on offer, accompanied by professional wildlife photographers.The Nasikia Camps portfolio is also expanding from four to six mobile and semi-permanent tented camps in 2018. Ehlane Plains Camp opened in a far-eastern pocket of the Serengeti mid-January with eight tented suites, including two ‘stargazer’ tents and one family tent; Donna has a young family of her own and Ehlane Plains Camp welcomes guests aged five and up. Later in the year, Kusini Kopjes Kambi will make its debut atop the ancient kopjes of the southern Serengeti. The new camp will feature 12 tented suites.Tragically, Naseeb was killed in a plane crash over Ngorongoro Crater in November 2017.
