AFTA‘s Chief Executive has revealed the 2018 People’s Choice: Retail Travel Agency of the Year state finalists as part of this year’s National Travel Industry Awards after more than 10,519 consumer votes were received.“Thank you to all accredited agencies who got involved in this year’s campaign. We received a significant increase (32%) in the number of consumers who voted for their favourite accredited retail agency compared to last year. This speaks volumes for the role that travel agents continue to play in the travel booking processes,” Jayson Westbury said.The People’s Choice Campaign was delivered through a dedicated consumer program in which consumers were asked to vote for their favourite ATAS retail travel agency.The campaign was administered by International Traveller Magazine and Australian Traveller Magazine. Consumers were invited to vote either online or through the magazine survey forms. AFTA created branded assets that agencies could use to promote their agency and rally consumer votes.APT formed an integral part of the campaign as both Prize Partner, offering every consumer that voted the chance to win an eight-day Vietnam and Cambodia Mekong River Cruise and Gold Sponsor for the People’s Choice NTIA Award Category. The winners will be advised after the NTIA event has taken place.The travel agencies who received the most consumer votes in each state are category finalists and the winner will be will be announced at the National Travel Industry Award Gala Dinner which will be held on Saturday 21 July 2018 at the International Convention Centre, Sydney.The 2018 People’s Choice Finalists;Queensland – New Farm Travel New South Wales – Chris Watson Travel Australian Capital Territory – Weston Cruise & Travel Victoria – Destination HQ Beaumaris Tasmania – Home Travel Company South Australia/Northern Territory – Kingscote Travel Western Australia – Bicton Travel
