Oman’s mountainous Jebel Akhdar region is home to villages that have farmed the fertile, high mountain soils for millennia. The cool, moist air and sturdy soils sustain stone fruit, roses for rosewater and perfumes, as well as grapes, figs and other sweet delights.

Throughout the year a cycle of planting and harvest ensures bountiful, seasonal produce makes its way from these village farms to markets all around the country. Right through June, the villages are busy picking grapes, figs and peaches. And as the year rolls out, you’ll see pears, pomegranates and apples follow.

Ancient paths took the region’s bounty to markets near and far, and for many contemporary visitors to Oman all roads lead back to this surprising, cool food bowl.

Now a promotion from Sultanate of Oman Tourism (Australia & New Zealand) is offering the sweetest of prizes.

Simply by visiting the promotional website and opening digital doors to the secrets of Oman, one lucky person will win a trip for two to Oman.
