Treehouses coming to Singapore’s Mandai

A 4.6 hectare behind-the-scenes area of Singapore Zoo is set to be converted into a 366-room resort operated by Banyan Tree Holdings. Currently home to back-of-house facilities, the resort will be integrated into the site and aims to encourage guests to be conscious of – and care for – the plants and animals in the surrounding Mandai rainforest.The resort’s design is inspired by the native flora and fauna, and the architecture and interior design will showcase the biodiversity of Mandai for guests to appreciate and learn from. When completed, the building and the landscape will become a holistic, immersive experience.In line with this theme of celebrating nature, the resort’s standard and family rooms will offer views into the rainforest. 24 elevated treehouses are being designed in the shape of seed-pods and will be set among the trees surrounding the resort.Wildlife parks and nature-themed indoor attractions will be available from the doorstep of the resort, giving guests immediate access to a specially curated program of activities, including behind-the-scenes programmes, guided nature walks and hands-on activities. These activities will promote a conscious way of life, one that is more in harmony with the natural world.The new eco-friendly retreat is earmarked to open in 2023.All images supplied by Banyan Tree Holdings.
