In a move designed to enhance its global trade relationships, AKTG has announced the formation of a new Global AKTG Advisory Board, featuring top travel agency leaders from key markets.

Having officially stepped down after 10 years on the Virtuoso Regional Member Advisory Board and the Global Board last month, Anthony Goldman, Joint Managing Director of Goldman Group shares some thoughts and reflections on the experience with LATTE.

In June, Goldman Group celebrated it 10-year milestone of having acquired Melbourne-based retail agency, Travelcall. That acquisition in 2013 laid the foundation for the previously corporate-focused Goldmans to become one of Australia’s most successful travel agency groups.

Last week, Australia’s own Anthony Goldman was confirmed as the newly elected Chair of the Virtuoso Global Member Advisory Board at ahead of Virtuoso Travel Week 2022. His appointment reflects Virtuoso’s movement towards a ‘think local, act global’ strategy being driven by Virtuoso’s Senior Vice President of Global Operations, Michael Londregan. Goldman is the first non-US member to take the chair with the global luxury travel consortium.

Flight Centre Travel Group, Goldman Travel Corporation and the Spencer Group of Companies will target independent travel businesses centred on premium and business travel to align with them under a new joint venture (JV) named Link Travel Group.

Add one more travel segment that Forbes Travel Guide (“FTG”) is now affording its star rating: river cruises.

The surprise announcement by Western Australia that it would open its hard borders to residents of New South Wales and Victoria from next week, coupled with the reopening of the Queensland/NSW border earlier this week (see more below), has been applauded by travel groups.
