A new CEO for Dubai-based hospitality group Jumeirah has been named, with Thomas B. Meier filling the position vacated by Katerina Giannouka at the start of 2024.

Jumeirah Group has maintained its regional and international expansion with the opening of its first hotel in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Jumeirah Jabal Omar Makkah. The hotel has commenced operations as part of the second phase of the city’s flagship Jabal Omar project.

Jumeirah Group has revealed ambitious plans to double the size of its portfolio by 2030. The Dubai-based hotelier has more than 25 hotels and resorts in its collection globally, the majority of which are in its home state and the Middle East. Other locations include London, Maldives, Capri, Mallorca and China.

Jumeirah Group has acquired its first property in Switzerland, securing the flagship property Le Richemond located on the banks of Lake Geneva.

Katerina Giannouka has been named as the new incoming Chief Executive Officer of Jumeirah Group, effective December 2022. The announcement comes following the departure of CEO José Silva who had been with the company for the past five years. Thomas Meier, Chief Operating Officer at Jumeirah Group, will be the interim CEO until Giannouka’s arrival.

Nine of the world’s most luxurious hotel and resort brands have been revealed in the first phase of The Red Sea Project in Saudi Arabia, expected to open in 2023. Properties will range in size from 76 to 430 rooms and suites.

Jumeirah Group will open the doors for the first time for its new Italian asset, Capri Palace Jumeirah, starting the season on 25 June 2020 and operational through until 30 September 2020.

Jumeirah Al Wathba Desert Resort & Spa joins two existing hotels in the UAE’s capital, Abu Dhabi – Jumeirah at Saadiyat Island Resort and Jumeirah at Etihad Towers. 

Jumeirah Vittaveli in the Maldives has introduced newly revamped Ocean Villa overwater bungalows that feature water slides that plunge straight from the guest room into the waters of the Indian Ocean.
