Construction has been begun on Regent Kyoto, with a ground-breaking ceremony held by IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG) and GI Capital Management to mark the milestone.

Banyan Group says it will open the doors to Banyan Tree Higashiyama Kyoto in the third quarter of 2024, marking the entry of the Banyan Tree brand in Japan. Located in the historic Higashiyama Ward of Kyoto City, Banyan Tree Higashiyama Kyoto will feature 52 guestrooms, the signature Banyan Tree Spa and two distinctive dining experiences.

Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas has revealed plans to open its first property in Japan in 2024. Six Senses Kyoto will be an urban sanctuary set in front of the Myoho-in temple and Tokyokuni-Jinja shrine and within walking distance of the Gion district.

Hilton has revealed its first LXR Hotels & Resorts property in Asia-Pacific will be Roku Kyoto, LXR Hotels & Resorts. The Japanese resort will be part of the 28.6-acre Shozan Resort Kyoto, a luxury enclave currently home to some of Kyoto’s most notable and idyllic Japanese gardens, historic architecture and authentic tea houses.

The opening date for HOTEL THE MITSUI KYOTO has been set for 3 November 2020, with reservations for the luxury property now open.

Located in Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto City, this signature luxury hotel is scheduled to open in summer 2020. “HOTEL THE MITSUI KYOTO, will represent the true essence of Japan, the world-renowned city of beauty, culture and heritage,” said General Manager, Manabu Kusui.

Aman has announced its third Japanese destination, Aman Kyoto, will be opening its doors on 1 November, 2019. Set in a secret garden at the heart of a 32-hectare forest, the resort is within walking distance of the iconic UNESCO World Heritage Site of Kinkaku-ji Temple and close to the centre of Kyoto.
