Hurtigruten Group has confirmed the repositioning of HX’s (Hurtigruten Expeditions) MS Maud to sister company Hurtigruten Norway, returning to the Norwegian coastal operation.

HX (Hurtigruten Expeditions) has firmed up its 2025/2026 season, doubling down on growth destinations with the introduction of new ports, landings, and itineraries, as well as increased local integration and community engagement programming.

Hurtigruten Expeditions will host leading scientists and climate change experts on its 20-day Greenland Summer Explorer Under the Midnight Sun journey this July.

Set in the High Arctic a few hundred miles from the North Pole, the archipelago of Svalbard is a silent wilderness of jaw-dropping beauty. Hurtigruten Expeditions’ third battery-hybrid powered ship, the upgraded MS Otto Sverdup, has departed on its maiden voyage this week from Hamburg, Germany.

Hurtigruten will introduce new year-round departures along the Norwegian coast directly from the UK, Germany and Norway in 2021. Sailings will operate from Dover, Hamburg and Bergen starting from January.

Hurtigruten is offering adventurous guests the choice between brand-new expedition cruises to handpicked ports on revamped ships that are also retrofitted for green hybrid propulsion, or environmentally friendly classic coastal cruises to all 34 ports from Bergen to Kirkenes during Hurtigruten’s 2021 season.

Hurtigruten has confirmed it will convert three of its existing ships to premium, hybrid-powered expedition ships. Utilising the same technology that is fuelling the Norwegian cruise company’s newest ‘green ship’, MS Roald Amundsen, Hurtigruten plans to install battery packs to MS Trollfjord, MS Finnmarken and MS Midnatsol, relaunching them all by 2021 under new names and operating year-long itineraries along the Norwegian coastline.
