A soil turning ceremony next week at the site of the former Southern Ocean Lodge will signify the official start of rebuilding the next iteration of one of Australia’s most acclaimed resorts.

Australian luxury lodge collection, Baillie Lodges, is eyeing an expansion of its intimate portfolio through acquisitions of properties in Australia and abroad. The company owns and operates three iconic lodges in Australia – Southern Ocean Lodge, Longitude 131 and Capella Lodge – and is behind the development of a new property in Tasmania called Remarkable Lodge.

Baillie Lodges has received a “substantial investment” from an affiliate of KSL Capital Partners, heralding a new chapter in Baillie Lodges’ quest to deliver “Australia’s finest collection of luxury lodges,” the company has announced. Founders James and Hayley Baillie will lead the new venture and continue to guide the Baillie Lodges’ commitment to delivering wild, experiential luxury.
