Accor has bought out the remaining 50% stake in sbe from original founder Sam Nazarian. The French hospitality juggernaut acquired half of sbe and its brands (including Mondrian, Delano, SLS and Hyde hotels, as well as restaurants and nightlife brands Cleo, Fili’a or Carna by Dario Cecchini) in 2018.

Accor and sbe have announced that the Gold Coast will be the Australian launch pad their Mondrian hotel brand. The newbuild dual tower property, Mondrian Gold Coast, will consist of a hotel and branded residences, positioned on Queensland’s Burleigh Heads beachfront.

Issenberg’s full-time hospitality career spans more than three decades and began in 1981 at the Westin St Francis Hotel in San Francisco. He has held senior positions across hotel management and property investment including Director of Development for Merlin Properties and was the CEO of Mirvac Hotels, a brand which joined the AccorHotels portfolio in late 2011.

AccorHotels and sbe Entertainment Group (“sbe”) have inked a Letter of Intent and entered into exclusive negotiations for AccorHotels to acquire a 50% stake in sbe for $125 million, as part of a strategy to expand its offering in the luxury lifestyle hospitality segment.
