Add one more travel segment that Forbes Travel Guide (“FTG”) is now affording its star rating: river cruises.

The latest transformation of Windstar Cruises’ flagship vessel, Wind Surf, have been unveiled focused on the yacht’s common spaces and suites.

Windstar Cruises has provided deeper insight on upcoming upgrades for Wind Surf. Phase 1 of the extensive renovations will take place next month in Cadiz, Spain. There the five-masted sailing yacht – the world’s largest sailing ship and Windstar’s flagship – will receive a multi-million dollar fit-out that encompasses a full redesign of many public spaces.

Windstar Cruises has revealed a multi-million dollar initiative to redesign all three of its classic sailing yachts – 148-guest Wind Star and Wind Spirit, and 342-guest Wind Surf.

Windstar Cruises is intent on expanding its fleet of six ships, President Chris Prelog confirmed at an event in Sydney last week, saying “we’re actively looking”. Prelog was in Australia meeting with travel partners and media following the first visit by a Windstar Cruises’ ship, Star Breeze, to local waters between November 2022 and mid-February 2023.

Windstar Cruises has released details for the full lineup of James Beard Foundation-affiliated guest chefs for its series of three themed culinary cruises in 2022. The all-female trio includes Atlanta’s Chef Jennifer Hill Booker, San Francisco’s Chef Tanya Holland, and Boston’s Chef Irene Li.

Windstar Cruises will make a second attempt at a local deployment in Australia and New Zealand in 2022/23 after abandoning its 2020/21 program due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Windstar Cruises has unveiled its 2019 and 2020 Caribbean and Latin America sailings including new visits to ports in Mexico, Honduras, Grand Cayman, the Dominican Republic and Jamaica. Cruisers seeking active adventure may choose from 152 departure dates ranging in length from 7 to 56 days.
